The CECDE has always shown a strong commitment to evidence-based research in accomplishing our extensive brief of
co-ordinating and enhancing early childhood education in Ireland. Since our establishment in 2002 we have undertaken and published our own research as well as funding and supporting PhD studentships and targeted projects in the area of educational disadvantage and special needs.
In 2003, we recruited four research students to complement and strengthen the research capacity of the Early Childhood Care and Education Sector. These students are nearing completion of their PhDs and we hope to host their research on the website when it is published later this year.
A second strand of PhD students begin their research in 2008 and more details are available here shortly.
The CECDE has recently assisted the Early Years Education Policy Unit within the Department of Education and Science in relation to the Early Education Provision strand of DEIS. For more information on our involvement to date, please click here.
