The Department of Education and Science (DES) would like to announce a new funding measure that is open to preschools that feed into DEIS Urban Band 1 Primary Schools.

The aim of this funding initiative is to support and improve quality practice in the preschool setting.

  • Initiatives to involve and support parents
  • Initiatives that support the inclusion of children with special educational needs
  • Initiatives that support the inclusion of children from minority ethnic groupings
  • Initiatives that foster successful transitions from home to preschool
  • Initiatives that foster successful transitions from preschool to primary school.

How much funding is available?

A once off grant to the maximum value of €10,000 per preschool setting can be applied for.

Who is the scheme open to?

The scheme is open to preschools (excluding Early Start) that cater for children in their final preschool year before they transfer to an Urban Band 1 DEIS Primary School.

How can I find out if my preschool qualifies?
